Industry programs to assist Victorian ICT companies
There is a wide range of industry programs which have been developed to assist local companies working in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) industry.
These programs provide services ranging from financial assistance to attend overseas trade fairs, through to support for the development of business plans. Listed are key programs and websites designed to assist local business operators.
Multimedia Victoria (MMV) is the agency responsible for implementing the Victorian Government’s ICT policy and is the central contact for Victorian and overseas ICT companies.

Australian Electronic Game Industry Profile
The Game Developers’ Association of Australia, with the support of the Queensland and Victorian State Governments, engaged Insight Economics and Quantum Market Research to conduct a National Survey of the Australian Electronic Game Industry.
The purpose of this survey was to build a comprehensive profile of the industry and it covered issues such as:
- company size, age, ownership structure and location
- company revenues and business areas – for instance fee for service development, own IP development, technical service provision to other sectors, etc
- industry employment characteristics, including job descriptions and wage levels
- future prospects for the industry and key strategic challenges.
Fact Sheet: Commercialising Emerging Technologies (COMET)
Do you or your company need help to commercialise an innovative product?
The Commercialising Emerging Technologies (COMET) program may be able to help.
COMET has been extended until June 2011 as part of the Australian Government’s
Innovation Statement, Backing Australia’s Ability – Building Our Future through Science and Innovation. This will provide an additional $100 million in funding providing assistance to more than 1,000 firms.
A tailored package of support is provided in the form of grants and advice.
Levelling the Playing Field: Submission to Senator Coonan, Minister for Communications, Technology and the Arts
This submission was writte to the Senator Coonan, Minister for Communications, Technology and the Arts on the 19th June, 2007.
The paper put forward the view that the games industry is not operating under a level playing field. The same investment incentives that are provided to the Australian film industry should be extended to the games industry.
