Who we are and what we do

The GDAA has been advocating on behalf of the Australian game development industry since its formation in 1999.

As the leading industry run body representing game developers in Australia, we work tirelessly to raise the profile of the Australian games development industry both locally and internationally.

We act on behalf of our members to attract greater investment to the industry and continue to work on cultivating a positive, inclusive culture in the sector. We’re committed to seeking opportunities that support the industry as it continues to grow.

Our activities and initiatives have always been driven by and for our members. These include running Game Connect Asia Pacific, the premier game development event in the Southern Hemisphere, and supporting delegations to the Game Developers’ Conference in San Francisco and Gamescom in Cologne.

Outside of events, we’re working towards setting industry benchmarks on best business practices and studio culture, creating strategies for greater diversity and representation in our industry, and other initiatives to help build a more sustainable industry.

Our long term plans include developing resources and tools for scaling and growing companies along with exploring emerging international markets for new audiences and investment opportunities.
